WAIKIKI BEACH SURF CONDITIONS FAQ


The state of the surf conditions at Waikiki Beach is a popular topic among those interested in surfing lessons. As one of the most renowned and conveniently located surfing locations in Oahu, the beach's steady and easy waves are particularly well-suited for beginners. Waikiki's climate boasts a consistent supply of sunshine, with an average of 300 sunny days each year, but sporadic AM rain showers are not unheard of. The water is generally warm, ranging between 75°F (24°C) in December and 82°F (28°C) in August.

Our surf lessons are available Monday-Saturday, throughout the year, 8:00 am, 11:00 am, 2:00 pm and 5:00 pm upon request!

We will try and reschedule your surfing lesson or if needed issue a refund! Please make sure the contact information is correct for communication!

LOCATION FAQ


A pin drop and map will be sent to your email that you provided also if the meetup location has changed you will be notified prior to your surfing lesson!

We teach in the less crowded area of Waikiki where their are no surfboard rentals!

CHOOSING A SURF LESSON FAQ


If you have never surfed before, don't worry! Our surf instructors cater to all skill levels, from beginners to those who have previous experience in the water.

This will depend if you live near the ocean and your child will be surfing all the time or if it will be just a one time experience for the child! Any age is acceptable as long as they are willing, we always adapt to their ability! In Hawaii Parents that are surfers start their children as early as possible so they will be accustomed to the ocean! If not surfing at least swimming at the beach! Forcing a child is never an option!

Surfing knows no age bounds, as we welcome all ages to enroll in our courses. Throughout our history, we've successfully taught individuals of varying ages - from children to those above 60 years old. The waves will eagerly anticipate your arrival, regardless of your age.

Yes, we have life jackets but it,s easier if you can swim!

First You  signup and then we prepare you for the ocean with water shoes, rash guards or wetsuits if needed ! Then starts the safety first talks with explanatory photos via iPad with questions and answers! Then comes the part on how to paddle a surfboard and be safe in the water with the surfboard and how to catch the wave and standup and ride the wave successfully where you will be assessed if you are surfing correctly or not! Drone photos and videos will be taken weather permitting!

Process for photos and videos is done by FAA Certified Drone Pilot Nani and this is included in your surfing lesson package and given when you are finished surfing either by airdrop or google drive! 

The surfing location where we conduct surfing lessons is relatively less crowded in the morning.

PAYMENTS, REBOOKING & CANCELLATION POLICY FAQ


Payment for all surf lessons must be made in advance at the time of booking.

Our payment options include Stripe for processing credit and debit cards, as well as Apple Pay.

Scenario's for a refund are 48 hours prior to your scheduled surfing lesson!

Rescheduling can only be done by contacting Hawaii Surfing Academy and refund will only be given by the discretion of the owner of Hawaii Surfing Academy

SURFING LESSON PREPARATION FAQ


Ensure you arrive at least 10 minutes prior to the scheduled start of your surf lesson.

Although it is necessary to apply sunscreen, it is advisable to avoid putting it around the eye area.

Our Surfing Lessons are All equipment included all you need to bring is your towel, swimsuit, sunscreen and change of clothes!

Restroom and shower facilities are available at the location where we conduct our surfing lessons.

In North America, wearing life jackets and PFDs is not mandatory when surfing. However, life jackets may impede the fluid movement of your hands, which are crucial for navigating through the waves. Therefore, if you possess strong swimming skills, relying on a life jacket might prove to be unfruitful.

It is highly recommended to use a rashguard.

Surfboards are not available for rent at our establishment.

Wearing goggles shields the eyes from the potential harm of chemicals and saltwater.

If you swim in the ocean with contact lenses, you risk exposing your eyes to harmful bacteria that can cause eye infections and irritation. In some cases, this can even result in serious conditions such as corneal ulcers, which can lead to more severe vision problems if left untreated.
